Trevor Colden’s Mystery Skateboards ‘Color Theory’ Part + Interview

What’s rad about where you grew up in Virginia Beach, and what could you have done without?
Well, I love Virginia Beach because all of my friends and just the vibe but there’s not really many spots out there. There was this really fun skatepark I skated like every day called Woodstock Skate Plaza and we all use to just chill there all day it was so sick!

In addition to Trevor Colden‘s Color Theory part, Jeff Halleran interviewed the new Mystery Skateboards team rider/VA native. Check out the rest of the interview here.

sevenfiveseven.org – Really Bad Colors Northside Montage

New stuff from my other site, sevenfiveseven.org. Features clips shot at Northside Skate Plaza in Norfolk, Virginia during the last 3 or so months.

The skateboarders include: Chase Norman, Chad Schley, Chris Vaneekelen, Chase Norman, Neilson Thornton, Chase Norman, Chase Norman, Trey Hill, Evan Dwyer, Chase Norman, and others.

The video was shot with a Canon 60D with Sigma 30MM f/1.4, Rokinon 8MM fisheye, Tamron 18-200mm and/or Rode VideoMic Pro.

No color grading was done, as the title suggests. The audio is also wonky at times too… I mostly use park filming to experiment and learn.

The main song used is “Catapult” by PEPEPIANO off the album PEPEPIANO, available on BandCamp for only $5 USD! That’s 50¢ a track! Totally worth it.

Skate Perception 2010 Montage

Dave Carulli got really epic with the 2010 Skate Perception montage. He used music from Anamanaguchi and the font from A Link to the Past which made my nerd pants sort of wet. Watch the entire video for the list of credits.

Thank You and Goodbye – Dead Cities in Your Heart

Thank You and Goodbye is an indie/alternative band out of Orlando, Florida consisting of Chris Grieder and Emiliy Brown. I don’t know much about Emily, besides being really cute and having a nice voice– but Chris also skateboards, films and takes pictures and stuff. The music video, directed by Chris, for their song Dead Cities in Your Heart can be viewed above.

Check them out on Facebook, MySpace and if you, like I, like the tunes, make a purchase of their 5 song EP, Time Well Wasted, through iTunes.

We Went Skating… RED CAM

I started shooting skateboarding with my friends almost 10 years ago. 10 years later I’m still shooting. I was given a great opportunity to shoot with the RED CAM and some of the same friends from 10 years earlier..

Directed by Austin M. Steele with DP Tom Guilmette. Above is the raw version of the footage. Click here for the color graded, final version.

Post22 “Film & Destroy”

No one ever really dies. North Carolina skateboard crew/website, Post22 has proven it time and time again. They have new equipment, a new site and another new site/blog/outlet in the works, Film & Destroy. F&D was made as ‘a way to highlight film making, art, and general skate culture’ without bogging Post22 with ‘weird side-project videos.’ I’m curious to see what comes from it.

Paul Rodriguez & Ice Cube – Today Was a Good Day (NikeSB Advertisment) (Video)

It’s been over 6 months since I last skateboarded. I miss the shit out of it and being too busy is a lame excuse for it too. Oh well. Earlier I was linked to this video for a Nike SB ad featuring Paul Rodriguez skateboarding in Los Angleles, California over Ice Cube‘s 1993 hit “It Was A Good Day.” The video has cameos from Theotis Beasley, legend Lance Mountain and Mr. Cube himself.

The album version of the song is 4 minutes and 20 seconds long. Chuuuuuch.
