The music from this album has been available for about a year now, but due to some legal road-bumps, hasen’t seen an official release until last month. In that time the lead artist of Sparklehorse, Virginia-born Mark Linkous committed suicide in Memphis– he was 47.

The album can be purchased digitally through iTunes or Amazon MP3 or physically as a CD or on double vinyl (with .mp3 download included).

I’ve always loved the soundtrack from the 1972 animated feature Fritz The Cat (based of the comic by Robert Crumb.) The film was the first animation to receive an X rating. The entire film can be watched in 10 minute increments via YouTube.

Nikki Leonti has a super soulful voice. Her and producer Rich Velonskis comprise the group Nikki & Rich. Nikki & Rich have been in the music industry for a minute, with Nikki singing backup for Carrie Underwood and Rich producing for the likes of Robin Thicke and Ludacris. Their song, Cat & Mouse was featured on the new 90210 television show and the track samples the song Give Him A Great Big Kiss by 1960′s girl group, The Shangri-Las from Queens, NY.

‘The Future‘ is a 2008 album by Swedish electronic music producer, Beem (Fredrik Mjelle) that features cover art for each of its tracks with vintage synthesizers and drum machines built from LEGO bricks by designer Frans Enmark. Listeners can expect a funky, jazzy, bassy experience when embarking on this 10 track musical high available legally and free of charge. The song ‘Ep9‘, whether intended or not, contains a melody reminiscent of the Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway ‘Be Real Black for Me‘ sample used in rapper Scarface‘s 2002 single, ‘My Block‘ and it’s really, really cool. There’s also track made entirely with sounds from soda cans! Below is a video of a live version of ‘Mouth Everest.’
