It’s been awhile since I last posted a Mash-Up on a Monday. Anywayzzz, here’s a blend of Evelyn King‘s 1978 dance hit, Shame over Kid Cudi‘s 2007 (or ’08 or ’09) stoner hit, Day ‘n Nite brought together in perfect harmony by the self proclaimed ‘pop bastardizer’ Party Ben.

I call it “that old, new.”

This is an old one from a mixtape titled Mash-Up Gang from Tapemasters Inc. that came out a few years back. DJ Chachi mixed Oasis‘ Wonderall with the drum beat from J-Kwon‘s Tipsy and topped it off with some Sublime & Lynyrd Skynyrd for good measure.

This 1995 single, ‘The Nod Factor‘ by your favorite rappers favorite ghostwriter, Skillz from Richmond, VA was from a time when he was ‘Mad‘, but he is much happier now. I found this track while searching Google looking for a video or a photo of rapper Big L writing to see what hand he wrote with– as I pondered, “Big L? Maybe he’s left handed?” I didn’t find anything relevant to that, so I guess he recited off the dome… but I did stumble across this mash-up of Big L’s M.V.P. and The Smiths‘ How Soon Is Now? titled How Soon Is MVP? The track was mashed-up by Irn Mnky of the (from what I gather) British DJ/Production collective The White Eyed Tigers. Also check out Irn Mnky’s A Very British American Gangster mash-up tape of Jay-Z‘s American Gangster ‘pellas over various music from British artists old and new.

When OJ Da Juice Man‘s track “Make The Trap Say Aye” featuring Gucci Mane hit the streets months ago, I wasn’t too thrilled with it. Then months later ABX from The Hood Internet took the song “Osaka Loop Line” from the Vampire Weekend/Ra Ra Riot member filled project Discovery and mish-mashed it with the Trap Say Aye song and made it 200% better. I danced to it while repeatedly saying “aye!” like a cartoon. I won’t lie.

Saraquill demanded kindly suggested this track to me and it was her birthday yesterday, so I allowed it. Her friend, CJ MIlli mashed Blink 182‘s “Every Time I Look For You The Sun Goes Down” with the DJ Barletta remix to the song “Blow it (Up Your Nose)” from a person/band/group called Pseudonympho (…couldn’t find anything about it via Google.) CJ had made the track for her boyfriend for his birthday a few weeks ago.

The Hood Internet (ABX & DJ STV SLV), Chicago, Illinois based DJs, producers and masher-uppers have been making really cool mash-ups for the last 3 years (at the least.) Their website is located on the internet at http://thehoodinternet.com.The song in the video is a mash of Usher‘s “Love In This Club” over the music of recent YouTube phenom, the late housecat and musician, Fatso (also known as “Keyboard Cat“.)

Below is another feline mash-up by ABX of The Hood, that combined Ratatat‘s ill instrumentals and geeetar riffs from their song “Wildcat” with the timeless vocals from the Michael Jackson classic, “Billie Jean” to form “Billy ‘Wildcat’ Jean“– kind of a post-humous a.k.a. naming for Mrs. Jean.

Also, I have more independent artistry and .mp3′s coming… I’ve been busy the last few days to appropriately research/compose meaningful write-ups for the artists and their musics. I haven’t forgot.

I’ve had this song lingering in my iTunes for years. I have no clue where I found it except that it was labeled as “Lankizzle Remix” and a Google search for Lankizzle comes up with a few, songs, from a mixtape titled Lankizzle Presents Video Game Remixes V2 that contained rap acapellas over beats that contained samples from classic video games. The song featued in this Mash-Up Monday is a combination of the vocals from Lil’ John and The East Side Boyz’ “Throw It Up” (Feat. Young Buck & Pastor Troy) mixed with a beefed-up version of the Koji Kondo composed Sanctuary area music from The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past on the Super Nintendo. I hope to stumble across both of Lankizzle’s VG Remixes mixtapes one day.
